As part of the operation of the ReefKeepers web site we collect information about you.
This Privacy Policy describes the information that we collect and what this information is used for.
Scope of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the reefkeepers.co.uk web site (the "Site").
This site practices the data protection principles of good practice, as defined in The Data
Protection Act 1998. This policy is limited to the use and disclosure of information that
is collected from you on the site. ReefKeepers does not control the
privacy policies of third parties, such as the online payment schemes that you will use
to pay for your order. You are advised to consult the privacy policies of these third parties
before use.
Information Collected
The primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide a smooth and efficient
automated service for the acquisition of goods from participating sellers. We require:
- Name: This is used in communicate with you, both on the site and via
email, and is used purely to provide a 'friendlier' atmosphere
- Email Address: This is required for 2 reasons:
- As a way to uniquely identify you from anyone else in the world. You will use this to
'sign in' to your ReefKeepers account, where you can review all your orders
- To notify you of the progress of you order
- Password: This is used to 'sign in' to your ReefKeepers account.
Passwords are stored in an encrypted form and are therefore only known to the user
- Delivery Address: This is the address to which your goods will be posted.
- Telephone Number: This is optional, and will only be used with regards to any
problem with your order.
- Your Order(s): The details and status of your orders will be stored by the site.
This will allow you to verify the progress of your order from your ReefKeepers account.
Control of Your Password
You are responsible for all actions taken with your account Email Address
and password. Therefore we do not recommend that you disclose these
details to any third parties. If you lose control of your account password,
you may lose substantial control over your personally identifiable information
and may be subject to legally binding actions taken on your behalf.
Therefore, if your password has been compromised for any reason,
you should immediately request to change it using the "Forgotten Your Password?"
link on the site "sign In" page.
Disclosure of Your Information
Your information will only be disclosed to sellers to whom you have placed an order,
and only information pertinent to the delivery of your goods. It is our policy not to
disclosed your personally identifiable information to any third party.
However, due to the existing regulatory environment, we cannot ensure that
all of your private communications and other personally identifiable information
will never be disclosed in ways not otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.
By way of example (without limiting the foregoing), we may be forced to
disclose information to the government, law enforcement agencies or third
parties under certain circumstances, third parties may unlawfully intercept
or access transmissions or private communications. Therefore, although we use
industry standard practices to protect your privacy, we do not promise, and
you should not expect, that your personally identifiable information or private
communications will always remain private.
Legal Requests We will cooperate with law enforcement inquiries, as well as other
third parties to enforce laws. We can (and you authorize us to) disclose any information about
you to law enforcement or other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe
necessary or appropriate, in connection with an investigation of activity that is illegal or
may expose us or you to legal liability.
Removing Your Personally Identifiable Information
Upon your written request, we will deactivate your account and all your
personally identifiable information from our active databases. To make this
request, email privacy@reefkeepers.co.uk using
the same email account that you use to sign in to your ReefKeepers account.
The information will be deactivated as soon as reasonably possible.
We may retain in our files information you have requested to remove in some
circumstances, such as to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems and enforce
our User Agreement. Further, such prior information is never completely removed
from our databases due to technical and legal constraints, including stored
"back up" systems. Therefore, you should not expect that all of your
personally identifiable information will be completely removed from our
databases in response to your requests.
Security
ReefKeepers uses industry standard practices
to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal identifiable information,
including "firewalls" and Secure Socket Layers (SSL).
ReefKeepers treats data as an asset that must be protected against loss and unauthorized
access. We employ many different security techniques to protect such data from unauthorized
access. However, "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet.
Notice of Change
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time based on your comments
and our need to accurately reflect our data collection and disclosure practices.
We provide you with thirty (30) days notice to allow you the opportunity to notify
ReefKeepers if you do not agree to such changes.
